As you will have read elsewhere on our forum, I have an Ex Essex Police Scorpio 24V with engine issues (see Newbie From Kent thread). Car In Service 1998 Car October 2008 In August I bought a 24V Estate to keep me on the road until my new everyday car was sourced and also to provide its innards to my Plod Car. Once I bought my new everyday car, the Plod car was moved to my mate's place

In October 2010, I started removing the engine/box from the Estate car. An undignified end but preserving the Police Car is my priority

Later today, the Police Car and donor engine/box will be returning to Essex for a heart transplant that will be performed by a VERY well respected enthusiast/engineer within the classic Ford scene R126WVW couldn't be in better hands Watch this space

No Matt, its a standard 3dr Cossie, not an RS500. The Scorpio has a full set of magnetic markings for show use so wont be permanently marked up. Battery cover is in the boot

IT LIVES! After a few hassles R126WVW is sorted and now has a fresh MOT from today When we took the car to the workshop, it was mentioned that the 24V weak point was the disintergrating wiring loom. Id not even looked at this but it turned out that the loom on the donor engine was in a very poor state. Unfortunately, in the Police Car after stripping the cover from the left bank (to asscertain what was wrong with the engine and see the state of the gearbox end of the loom, it was determined that both the looms were U/S and the tensioner had let go causing the left hand side to run out of time. It was then decided to remake the loom which was the obvious way forward. Im told it was a pig of a job although anything is possible subject to time/money. This coincided with my holiday which provided extra time and less pressure to complete the job before I aimed to collect the car, given that the original plan was to turn the car around within 3 working days. The car started on the first turn of the key which is a testimony to the efforts/skills of those involved. After a pre-mot check over, all the car needed was two new rear brake pipes. The plan was to collect the car on 01/12/2010 subject to weather conditions in Kent/Essex.

Well, the weather screwed things right up and put us back a week, but today, the car breezed through its MOT and returned home to Kent  Car and old engine loaded up and ready for the return journey Back home in Kent 1 Years MOT to its credit from today  The original engine/gearbox and where it will live The car returned to the garage from where it has only moved twice in 3 years.

I hope there was more than met the eye with the donor car to warrant scrapping it. It looks/looked in better nick than the ones I have run.

You don't have to be mad to own a Scorp - but it helps!

Just a show car now then? Done 7 miles from 2010 to last MOT in 2019, as for the red estate they make good money now as so few around.

Yes I know what you feel like, saved a few myself, but new owners seem unable (or unwilling) to keep up the good work and keep them on the road. I wonder if it is the end of Scorpios soon, as so many gone now. Only by being really determined are mine still on the road even the most simple spares are hard to get, both cossie estates are on Granny waterpumps, but fortunately the radiator from the cos breaking on ebay has just saved the day on my silver one, as that rad has finally gone now. Even selling on a good 'un is a challenge as no real interest in the 2.3 estate - could be alovely car but, 1 I like v6s & 2, I am not abottomless pit of money, perticularly when all are taxed etc and the current electric "cars" get away tax free (for sure Liz the trussed will find a way though).
