Hi all, Failed the mot today. Exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content at idle excessive, Exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content after 2nd fast idle excessive, Exhaust emissions lambda reading after 2nd fast idle outside limits, Nearside rear parking brake recording little or no effort, Nearside rear (chassis) excessively corroded Nearside rear (outer & inner sills) excessively corroded My mate done a scan the other day & it came up with three fault codes P0102. (maf) P0132. (02sensor) P1132. (man) So a new maf & lambda sensor should sort the emissions So only the handbrake I didnt know about! Steve

Hi Simmo, Ya done that, give it a couple of squirts of carb cleaner. After start up I get down the road & get a pause & then all of a sudden full power! I've unplugged the maf & it doesn't do it, so change the maf to sort that out ? On another note!, I am prepared to sort the scorpio out for the mot But I was only keeping it till august. A mate of mine was getting his new car in august & I have first dibbs (58 mondeo 2.0 tdci 140 titanium) If I knew he was selling this early I wouldn't of done the gearbox ! Anyway if anyone would be interested I'm open to sensible offers ! 1998 2.3 Auto R reg facelift Ultima, 84300 miles, 1 month MOT, 1 month TAX all the usual ultima's refinments Heated, full elec & memory leather seats, Heated screens, Climate control, Radio cassette & CD changer, 4x elec windows, Elec sunroof, ABS, Traction control, All of the above work as they should!, Key fob has been repired so locks & unlocks all doors & the boot. I have changed the gearbox with a Cosworth one (from Highlander) I put a new filter aswell as oil costing over £100. I put 4 new tyres on about 2000 miles ago, there is a 12 spoke alloy in the boot & I still have the steel with a as new tyre on it ! I also have 2 other 12 spoke alloys that can go. I put a towbar on to pull my caravan £90, I have only done 200 miles with the caravan on & it only weighs just over a ton ! It has single electrics which is an original ford plug in type £80 (so no scotch locks !) With the welding & bits to get the mot should be around £200-300 I will get a full ad on the for sale page with pics next week as I'm away from tomorrow, Thanks Steve

| Yep mine did the exact same, finally new MAF fixed it, cleaning didn't do anything. Oh plus new cat + new complete exhaust + new filters NB: I think the exhaust was coked up 'cause of dirty air filter + the other probs making it too rich. That problee did for the cat too I shouldn't wonder

My 98 2.3 Ultima saloon today passed the German MOT. That means another two years of comfortable rides. Some rust on the rear frame, but not so much that the TUEV guy refused the stamp. "Car is in a good shape" he sad "and it would be unfair to block it." Emissions were brilliant. 200km and still the first Cat and exhaust. I'm quite happy. Now get a beer. Regards Armin

My `96 ultima passed the uk mot test today. advised to replace the rear pads (down to 25%) and corrosion has started in the sills. nothing too serious yet. ok for another year.

Had a guy round to replace rear pads. He noticed a broken o/s rear spring. The sills are in a very early stage of corrosion and can be repaired in situ. So much for the MOT A bit off topic but would it be a good idea to have the next kent meet in four weeks time and then bi-monthly afterwards. This might alleviate the meet falling on bank holiday weekends in the future. Just a thought. cheers. fred.
