A fairly straightforward PASS today, I am chuffed. Everything works as it should. Advisory says sills for next time (August 2012), but they are on the plan anyway, so a great result. Tiddly Pom

But they let it go when others would have failed it on that and probably found a lot of silly little faults to fail it on so it was a very good result.

Hey Andy, Not sure what you are getting at. Sills good for another 12 months or so but will need attending to. (Thats what advisories are for). Not getting off light and having pre-checked it no silly little faults to find. Thorough test on a car that has been well looked after. I generally try to head off problems when spotted if I can rather than waiting for the MOT, like many on here have experienced MOT fails on previous Scorpios on emissions and situations when welding needed. The garage has a reputation for good work locally and over 15 years or so I have had no issues with them or signs of trying to pull a fast one. Sorry if you've been having problems where you are. Geoff

Found a body man at Knottingley that does good work so hope to get the sills and wheel arches done in August/September. Pictures will follow.

Sorry Geoff I was just saying they are good mot testers. Other garages might have failed it for faults that didn't exist as has happened to myself and a few others on the forum. In my case it was a corroded brake pipe that wasn't corroded and looked as if it was brand new.

Horrid when that happens... VOSA claim that they want to know about things like that http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/OwningAVehicle/Mot/DG_4022113 "If you are unhappy with your MOT service If you are unhappy with the way your test was carried out please let VOSA know as it helps to know that MOT test stations are providing a good service. Contact the Area Manager at your local VOSA office. The address is shown on the Fees and Appeals poster displayed at your MOT test station or you can ring VOSA on 0300 123 9000 " I guess if they have a number of issues with an individual station or tester they can get on and do something.

The chap who does the MOT on my Merc and Corsairs and previous to that my Scorpios is an ex-VOSA inspector who used to train MOT inspectors!! He was top dog for years and was always the guy who made the decisions for VOSA around this area. He retired and now does MOT's to keep his hand in!! No getting away with anything dodgy with him about....having said that, I don't think I ever had a Scorpio fail an MOT or not for anything other than a bulb or something trivial anyway!

Mine usually goes to a Ford specialist one who's a bit of a way off from here in Shoeburyness martin-motor-engineers-ltd My mechanic mate found this guy, as he said it helps a lot to take it to someone who "actually knows summink about 'em" He got the arse with the people he used to use who seemed intent on failing old cars and similar nit-picking type messing about
