On the road again

When our red 24 valve Scorpio Estate drastically failed the MOT back in May/June: Wishbones and severe rust, , the prognosis was soo bad that I was ready to scrap her. We were really upset especially as the rest of the MOT was passed with flying colours. However my much better half would have none of it . I purchaced a ser of Wishboned from Scorpio Mike . Many thanks Our trusted local garage opted out saying that Ruby was too far gone and he was not prepared to throw our money away. Fair enough. So when we were staying in Swindon during Aug. I looked about, found one place that looked promising but very expensive so gave that one up. Anyway back home in Chard I remembered a Garage in Staplehay where I had had some welding done in the past , so I took her over there, Mat put her on the Hoist, said he could sort her out and we set aside a week, ending on the 19th. Dec . We had been saving hard since the failure date and on11th. Dec. took her over to Staplehay. 19th. Dec I picked Ruby up, all done. MOT passed with no advisories and she should be good for a few more years. We can't ask more than that. We have Ruby back up and raring to go and we are soooo pleased. Yeeeehaaa! Mike

Congratulations Mike . Whatever the cost, you and your good lady clearly feel it was worth it. I think you may mean November however but we'll put that down to sheer excitement!. Let's hope you have many more years of enjoying the car.

I don't under stand it when people scrap cars as a resultof a £600 MOT bill - what kind iof replacement car could you buy for £600? Certainly nothing like a Scorpio. Well done for keeping on the road, enjoy it

Chap I used to work with reckoned putting a £200 exhaust on a car worth £600 was a waste of money...but he thought nothing of buying a new £30k car which depreciated over 3 years at an average rate of £600 per month. Go figure...
