Passed Again!

With a big smile on my face and an MOT for another 12 months and 29 days, 'Old-Movvy' passed with flying colours. No advisories at all. My mate picked up on one thing, it seems the Off-Side front ball-joint, (aye on the dreaded wishbone) is just starting to play! These wishbones were replaced on April 1st 2012 when the car had 104k miles on it! So Two and Half years and 15k miles and the Off-Side is just starting to 'Play'..........Blimey that's rubbish. I'll need to go looking for that link to get a pair of new-ones, but I won't fit new ones until the old ones fail that's for sure!

Glad to hear it passed. Quinton Hazell ran into problems a while back & the supply of their wishbones dried up: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-north-west-wales-21360719 LH = QSJ2101S RH = QSJ2102S They do appear to be available again like here: http://www.rexbo.eu/search?q=QSJ2102S I don’t know what quality the Optimal is in that link. There are also Chinese ones about, if you Google the QH numbers you’ll find links with lists of Chinese makers & part no’s. I have a Chinese one I picked up very cheap from ebay Italy (think the brand is Birth) however I noticed there was slight movement in the stud the rearward bush goes on, I assume it hadn’t been tightened fully before drilling for the cross pin. I had to drill the cross pin out & shim the stud so the holes line up for re-pinning when tight . If you search the QH no’s on Ebay & tick to search Ebay Europe you’ll get some results but mainly not QH brand.

Eurocarparts now list a VM one both on Ebay & their website but they’re £160. If you’ve signed up to their emails it might be worth checking the price when they have one of their special offer promotions.

Tomp. Thanks for all the info. I'll have a look around when I get back from Jersey. In any case I'll not replace until after winter into next year. I wonder if the Ford item is any better, and if it will ever get any cheaper! But that QH part I put on, I was hoping it would have lasted better than 15k miles and 2 and half years! I felt the play, and it's hardly noticeable, but still there..........a real nuisance. I'm pleased as punch with the pass though, just that blasted scab on the Off-Side rear arch, about the size of a ten-pence piece.

Great news, a bit poor about the wishbone, 15k is nothing. I did think about trying to lubricate them, to try and make them last longer.
