Hi Tony,

Not sure if I'll get another, with Simmo's help I'm trying to get hold of Fred as I've seen Fred's car before - but I expect it's already gone.

Hi Tony,

Yes insured not that I'll get much, got the details from the police after they'd spoken to him.

He said a BMW did a U turn in front of him & he swerved to avoid it & hit my car.

Tell them its a " Classic car " and you want it restoring back to its previous condition.
It is NOT YOUR insurance company that is footing the bill it MUST be the other party.
I wish you well in your quest.

This!

A third party insurer CANNOT* write your car off and they are obliged to restore you and your assets to thier original condition prior to the other parties negligence.

I did this with my old Sierra - worth £1000, third party insurer paid £2500 to have it repaired.

You might have to fight it though - get the ombudsman phone numbers ready.

*The only exception is if the engineer/assessor states it would be dangerous to repair and return to the road (as yours might be as it looks like it migh have significant chassis damage) which in that case find the best condition, most expensive Scorpio on Auto Trader/Ebay/this site as an example of what it would cost to give you an equivalent car (bearing in mind it's a facelift by the looks of it).

I agree - and push it up onto the pavement!

Dave's just down the road from me. Because the road is long you wouldn't (or would you) believe the speed some get up to - mainly boy racers. There's a blind spot on a bend a little way from me where a few speeding motorcyclists have been killed as they hit cars emerging from a side street.

Hope we see Dave back in another Scorp soon.

Cheers Paul, thanks for the call earlier.

Zoomed in a bit you can see creases on the roof & by the ns quarter light & how well the rear doors now fit.

I saw that one on ebay but I'm not keen to buy from there unless the car's nearby.

The batteries were flat on my camera so didn’t get any pictures of the other car a Vauxhall Corsa. It was where my car had been parked but a bit out from the kerb and facing the centre of the road. I didn’t look that closely at it, front smashed, front nearside wheel hanging out. Strangely part the way round the steel rear wheel the bead the tyre sits behind had been flattened out up the side of the tyre presumably lost a fight with the kerb.
