Scorpio-Less!

Sad-News for me.   After Ten years of ownership, I have let my beloved 'Old-Movvy' go to a great home.   'Old-Movvy' has behaved faultlessly for the whole time I've had him.   I got the car with about 75k miles on the clock, and it got down to Brixham with just about 135k on the clock.

There have been many new and improved parts fitted, and the car has never failed an MOT in my ownership.

I shall miss the car terribly, but I know it has gone to a really enthusiastic young owner, who's Dad is well-known on here, and I look-forward to watching how the new owner gets-on with the car.

I drove the car down to the new owner last Friday overnight, covering 630 miles in one go with only one fuel-stop.   The car 'averaged' 61 mph.   Most of the time I sat with the cruise-control set at 96mph on those very clear roads, and when I couldn't sit at that kind of speed it was set to 77mph.   The car returned 29.7mpg overall.

Naturally there are a few potential faults looming with the car, but both myself and the new owner know of these.   My main issue is that the car is going to a good-home.

My wife has already said she's not happy because 'Old-Movvy' has heated seats, and is more comfortable than either of my Jaguars.  I still have too-many cars and motorcycles, but feel I've made the right choice of car to move-on because it is the one able to give the most pleasure to the next owner.   Now I need to concentrate on my XK140, I'm told it needs to be ready and running with heated seats for next summer!

Of course I shall still be a fairly regular visitor to this site, and of course I shall donate for that pleasure.   I hope to still be able to help if I can, and welcome any questions from members if they think I can help.   I can honestly say that amongst the many cars I've owned in 45 years, the Scorpio is the best, and had been my longest ownership of any car.

I still have a few 'brand-new' from the box parts that I very naughtily didn't give to the new owner, I shall put them up here at some stage.

A great site, with the best help of ANY site I've ever been a member of.   The Admin-lot are brilliant, and it's been a fantastic pleasure to be a Scorpio owner and member.

My kindest regards to all, I intend to keep in touch.

Peter, this is one post I did not expect to see! I do ,however, see your reasoning and am pleased to see that it has gone to a good home where hopefully we will hear about it in the future.
Very best wishes and keep in touch.

Farewell, Peter, I've enjoyed following some of your posts and feel as I'm sure others do, I knew Old Movvy.
And this post reminds me I must make a donation, esp as I seem to be calling on the collective knowledge more often lately.
Best wishes to you...and of course OM.

Hello all

Looks like our ford scorpio garage has a new member... just as well our drive is large

Great to meet Peter a really nice guy and had a pleasant if too short time speaking with him. Spent a long time travelling here but still looked fresh as a daisy at 5 in the morning.

The "Movvy" name carries on - updates will follow.

Thank you Peter for all your help in saving our lovely cars

Mixed emotions here Peter:

I am saddened to see "Old Movvy" has left your loving care yet cheered to see that he has gone to a good home where he will be cherished.  I'm also happy to see that you will remain in contact with us, and chirping in every now and again with your knowledge and expertise.

I am really impressed by your drive down to Brixham and the figures returned by "Movvy." I bet you loved every second. I also love long distance driving my Scorpios.

How did you get home?

Very best regards and thanks to you.

Memories of a lovely Scorpio while on the train I'm sure but Movvy is already giving pleasure and good driving hope to new blood.

We need more young blood to keep these great cars going.

IT IS TIME TO IGNORE THE SPLITTERS on EBAY and transplant merchants, they are rapidly killing the ones left.

Shame we can't hire a secure store somewhere to save worthy ones (says he going bankrupt in the latest venture to save a Cosworth!!)

BUT you guys helped us and now it's just welding for the MOT then another will live!
