Carol's Cossie Estate, Ruby, drastically failed the MOT last week.  Rusted out.

I have never owned or driven any car that comes close to a Ford Scorpio Ultima 24 valve Auto Estate.

Not much more to say really.

I SORNed Ruby a few mins ago.

Sorry to hear that you are scorp less Mike, where to go now. The mondeo has come a long way from the first ones and is, I think, bigger than the Scorpios.

So sorry to hear this, such lovely cars and never realised their full potential due to bad press mainly.
As you are all aware I am still relatively new to the Scorpio following on for me from The galaxy and the G word cars and estates of which I had quite a few, and these are best cars in many ways, still some cherished ones out there - will need some fettling in many instances but why go for a lesser car if you are happy with what you have had?

Wish we could all help you but rust is bad news with any car, and with the price of new sills etc nowadays if you can't weld youre generally stuffed.

Perhaps like me having more than 1 is a bit of a guarantee that you can drive the dream forever. look around dig into your pocket and pick up the best available, Cossies in particular are easier to find and there was a good estate in Durham a while ago-bit pricey but looked after by a mechanic I think

Good luck

Very sorry to hear of your problems.   I think a lot of people on here previously have had problems with the Scorpio, and hoped to keep the car alive.    Roy talks of being a new member, I would say he is one of the strongest most dedicated members on the site.   Roy can certainly be respected for his continued dedication to a mark that has it's unfortunate failing.   The car has no failing apart from it's lack of proper support from the factory.    No one will probably be interested, but I still continue to look at this site very regularly, and enjoy looking at the Scorpio 'problems' that arise, Roy and I still keep in contact, and I still would like to help with knowledge I have of the mark after a good few years of ownership.   Scorpio is a great car.   Better than both of my Jaguars for comfort.   Handles better than both of my Jaguars!   My wife always asks..................."I want 'Movvy' back, it was so comfortable, heated-seats, really smooth, and looked great".

Keep your Scorpios

What can I say?  Shocked Peter,
I look on myself as a "normal" guy who just has the type of car he wants, I have been ragged a bit by those who know me locally as to why not buy a bmw what ever that is (the South africans refer to them as "Break My Window" - preferably when its 2 foot off your tail in the fast lane I presume, they just haven't driven a Scorp so they cannot possibly understand

Sometimes I do have strong views and they do show, but if you got what you want in cars then why go for something else-unless it really is uobtainable.
In work I have dealt with many collectors with OCD and major hang-ups over trying to find a record or similar that does exist...  .somewhere and they get really wound up over it, money is no object in the world of collectors so long as the "chase" has a fruitful end.
But things are different with the Scorpio, they are still out there and some in very good nick also, if it's REALLY what you want - go for it there is enough combined knowledge on here to fix most things, and as you say this is the BEST site for a car on the web and the members are second to none! Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

I would like to apologise to all BMW owners.......BUT it's against my religion
