Cobrascim introduction

Afternoon all. Thanks for letting me join this site. I have been into classic cars pretty much all my life. Ive had my Scimitar GTE SE6A since 1990 then around 1999 I fitted it with a 2.9 Granada engine firstly with the auto then made a hybrid MT75 manual. Also fitted LPG kit around same time.  Finished building my SRV8 cobra replica around 2007 and then added an Excalibur Crusader kit car to the stable around 2019. Anyway during lockdown and searching around ebay late at night I ended up buying a pick up which had been "made" by a vehicle repair chap in Birmingham. The car intrigued me as it was Scorpio 24v Cosworth to which a P100 pick up bed was fabricated onto. It runs all the Scorpio features including the independent rear axle fitted with adjustable air shocks on back (via footpump valve not a tank) - just really for ride height under load adjustment if required. Anyway not a car for the purists but certainly something different as many a chap that know their Fords have commented that they didnt know ford made a scorpio pick up.
I have had some issues with it and am improving it as I go along. Recently wiring issues with insulation going brittle and falling off certainly around the heat of the engine bay area. In fact a few weeks ago I removed the wires from the EDIS plug one at a time to re-insulate each all the way to inside the taped loom. small bore heatshrink slid over the pin and all the way down to the good insulation. Trigger wheel wires with the screen was the worst as the screen was probably shorting out the signal wires causing it to cut out while running which was rather annoying.
Anyway, a longer intro than intended - sorry. Please dont be offended by a cut and shut Scorpio...it wasnt me...but I like it.
Regards.
John. near Tarbolton, Ayrshire.

Welcome John. And a happy New Year to you.
I have owned three Scorpios for quite a few years now and being a, maybe two spanner, Haynes chappie, I would have given up on my first Scorpio very soon after purchasing it.  Then I found this Site and thanks to the many awesome members abilities which they share so willingly I still own two Cossie Estates, one on the road and the other one it's "Spare parts.

Hi Mike, Happy New Year to you to.
They are certainly some machines but particularly in Cossie format. Hoping to sort out a few issues on this pick up and ensure it is a reliable unit. I just recently bought another BOB engine with complete loom (inc ECU) with auto box. This is to allow me to see everything laid out on my garage floor to help me with a few issues I've been having. The early wiring looms were problematic I see from this site and my car being a Nov. '94 it has certainly got the wire degradation. I might end up making  up one for the pick up. The engine may end up going into the Scimitar  Grin
