Title: 2.0L/2.3L owners ,please read

I have read threads in the past about inlet manifolds gaskets causing a coolant leak due to a supposed crack in one or other.

Having discovered a leak from under the thermostat housing i decided to investigate.

I dismantled the intake system all the way to the point where I removed the inlet manifold nuts/bolts.

Dismantling was greatly assisted by a post detailing the parts needing to be removed etc (simon c-thanks).

It was at this point I discovered that there was a missing bolt!

Simons description mentioned 3bolts,upper mountings,and 2 stud nuts,lower mountings.

having removed these I quickly realized something wasnt right- the front lower part of the manifold, the bottom of the thermostat housing didnt appear to have any support. sure enough, under the housing was an unoccupied hole! And from simons decription he doesnt have one either!

One of the upper bolts was pressed into use as the clearance under the housing makes fitting a stud a bit fiddly- a stud and nut was used to replace the donor bolt.

Any 2.0/2.3 users  experiencing slow but certain loss of coolant should check this area.its a bit fiddly with top hose in place but if you feel under the thermostat housing there should be a bolt head or stud and nut, about 1/2 inch from front edge of manifold/housing ,if not then expect a wet finger!
