I wasn't too sure what section to put this in but here goes. What sort of demand is there for the 16" 12 spoke wheels? I have them fitted on my car although it wasn't top of my agenda at the time when I purchased the car a few weeks ago. I'll admit they do look good and will be much easier to clean than the aftermarket alloys I had fitted to my last car which was a Xantia (have to admit it was smoother on the road!). Going by the threads on this site, these wheels appear to very rare. Are they really that sought after??? The tyres I have fitted are 215/50's. Is this the normal size? I have a 2.3L Ultima '98.

Off topic again but does anyone on this site own a '95 or '96 (can't remember which year) bright red Scorpio with a proper boot spoiler in the Dublin area? I've seen it around a few times over the past year or so, most especially around Harcourt St and Camden St area bul also around the vicinity of the Mater hospital. It really does stand out. :D

I also have a 2.3 Ultima in Newry and the standard tyres are 225, althouh you may save a little petrol.

Hi Graham,

The 12 Spokes do seem to be quite rare (harder to find than the cars) ;D. I wanted some and spent the good part of 4 months trying to source some up and down the country. I now have some and they are a big improvement on the tear drop Ultima ones. They hold the road better. Ford now sell the 12 spokes as mark1 & 2 mondeo wheels but the centres of the wheels are slightly modified.

The chrome 12 spoke 16" wheels are virtually Impossible to find.

That's weird, I had just posted my reply & a mate rings asking me if I have any alloys. He will try & get them on a old Capri Saturday. (Don't fancy his chances). If you are interested send a PM & we will have to see.

That will be a hard job. I was heavily into crapis ( as they are known LOL) and i think he will have clearance problems. 16's have been fitted before but max tyre width is 205 and the arches will ahve to be rolled. Be nice tho if they fit. ;)

Not a chance of fitting the alloys on a Capri, well not with 225/50/16 tyres on. Was funny to watch, never messed with Capri's much but I did have an idea they would not fit. He was well upset. Anyway I think I will keep the tyres for my other Cossie & flog the alloys on ebay. They are a boy racers dream, 16 inch!

Badboytunes make me a offer if you want. Evesham area, need to check but from what I remember the alloys are good but for a couple of marks, centres just starting to bubble a bit & I have the key. Can send pics.

ooh err dunno m8y...... Funds a bit tight at the mo. Bloomin kids growing up fast!!! if they havent got tyres then i dont know what they are worth. I have seen sets with tyres go for as little as £100. But they are allways sold!!!

I am in no rush, but a few other members have showed interest. I was thinking about £80 for the 4, they may make double that on ebay but there again might not. You just can't tell with ebay. As long as I cover my outlay I not that bothered.

Shame you have not got the dosh Badboytunes. Derby does sound good but I have 8 cubic metres of concrete comming Sat. so will busy all w/end & probably bed ridden for the rest of next week (concrete = hard work). May be the next one.

They are the bog standard ones. Only ever seen one set of the chrome ones for sale, they went for £390 with just about legal tyres on them.

chrome ones on ebay now, look under mondeo ghia, 3 look ok one look burnt!

Yeah the 3 look good but I would bin the other one if it is fire damage & try to get another. Heat does funny things to alloy. Interesting, I wonder what the reserve is.

mondeo wheel will fit but the offset is different for a fwd. I wudnt buy them

Chrome nice when new but looks shabby if not looked after chrome starts to peel/chip off, go for alloy silver if poss, i got mine from ebay £300 inc p & p all good tyres locks etc
makes a dfference to looks of the car

I know they look the same but they are quite different...freind of mine has themon his Mondeo and compared them to mine...they are more shallow...the scorpio ones are similar in design but are far deeper.
