Post by mjnewham on May 11th, 2004, 9:13pm
Any comments about the RDS 6006e - below are some specs, but no idea about how many watts it pushes out!

Ford 6006 6 CD changer head unit.  It will fit all Ford cars and transit vans using a double DIN type of unit except for KA.  The unit is multichanger compatible and also steering wheel control compatible, and it will play CDR CDs.

THIS MODEL RETAILS AT £499.00 AT FORD DEALERS.

THE 6006 ENABLES YOU TO LOAD 6 CD'S ALL AT ONCE.  THERE IS NO NEED FOR A BOOT LOADER, ALL THE SIX CD'S ARE LOADED INTO THIS HEAD UNIT AT THE SAME TIME

ADDITIONAL FEATURES ARE AS FOLLOWS

REAR SEAT CONTROLS (RICP )
ALTERNATIVE FREQUENCY TUNING
AUTO VOLUME CONTROL
AUTO DISTORTION REDUCTION
RANDOM TRACK PLAYBACK ( SHUFFLE )
TRACK COMPRESSION
TRACK SCANNING
Has sockets for the STEERING WHEEL remote and fits the Ford vehicles with the larger sized stereo's.

They're not bad at all.  Feels like the same output level as a 5000 or 6000.  The 6 disc shuffle is quite slow and noisy but much more convenient than a seperate changer obviously.  I have to be honest though, for what people ask pricewise I would rather get an aftermarket alpine or pioneer mp3 unit.

Got to agree with Grant, handy if allready fitted but wouldnt go out of my way to get one. Personally i would rather have the tape head unit and boot changer best of both worlds then. john.n ;)

Can't really say the 7000 was that much louder than the 6006. It was a 7000 I took out to put in the 6006 and I don't recall thinking 'thats quiet'.  It is plenty loud enough to drown out any conversation or road noise. On the other hand I've got about 1500W in the Scorpio so everything else just sounds limp!!
