Title: RECONDITIONED ENGINE DEALER ?

Does anyone know of a recon engine dealer that might sell the 24v cosworth engine preferably in or near Hertfordshire.
Thanks
Keith

Hi.
I think your on your own regarding getting a recon engine. Too specialised and not enough takers.
A decent recon (if you could get one) will set you back more than your car is worth, sorry.
There is Merlin Race Engines near to you. He has one but wants £6K. You'll get 350 BHP though !
Best bet is to get a proper garage to replace the chains and tensioners if you intend keeping the car.

Thanks for the reply Ian but I have priced up the timming chain repair and as the engine has done over 110,000 miles it seems a better option to replace the enigine, I have located another engine thats done 60,000 miles for £910 + £400 to fit but I am still looking. By the way fords quoted 20 hours labour to do the chains and £3200 for a recon engine.

Yes, just like i thought, more than the car's worth.
At £910 for the S/H engine, i would want to see it running if i were you before handing over the cash and get a warranty with it for 6 months at least.
If this particular engine hasn't had the tensioners and chains done, you will be back to square one shortly.

They were giving a 3 month warranty with the engine but your right I would see it running first and make sure it was started from cold.
