Title: were is the temperature sensors located?
Post by gorjac on May 20th, 2004, 5:49pm
Hey
I own a Scorpio 2.3 from 97
i have a problem with it, the tempgauge is just moving a few millimeters and is not showing the actual temperature. I have dismantled the instumentpanel and checked the gauge from within. I have looked for the temperature sensors on the motor and can not find them.  my engine is a 2.3 litres (petrol)
My question is were is the temperature sensors located?
and if anyone o have a good tip how to fix this problem I would be realy thankful.
I hope you understand my spelling

Hi
not 100% sure but mostly they are screwed in near the thermostat housing. look for a small fitting screwed in with a SINGLE wire connected to it.  on mine ( 2.9 ultima) there is another temp sensor next to it with a multiplug. thats for the computer control.
a quick way to check the gauge is to disconnect the single wire ( it just pulls off) and earth it. switch on the ignition and the gauge should read full scale ,ie hot.
hope this helps
roy
