Title: 24v idle speed
Post by niko111 on Oct 8th, 2004, 7:31pm
just noticed the last few times my tank has been almost empty, the idle speed seems to go up & stick around 1000 rpm instead of its usual speed. is this a quirk that affects all 24v's or just mine?

If i remember right, that feature is even written in owners manual.

It wasn't in my owner's manual.  ??? Do you mean the Buyer's Guide? http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/advice.htm ?

I noticed this on my 24V, and it can be worse if the fuel cap is not closed properly - the EVAP system creates an unmetered leak. It also happens on a very empty fuel tank, especially when first started, because it takes a fair time for the EVAP to empty all the air out of the tank.
I wrote this up on http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/pooridle.htm

Hi Eric_R,

I probably read it from the place you mentioned.
My 24v idle with empty tank around +/-50rpm/min.

I hope this help to verify.
