Title: Faulty O/D
Post by geordievin on Oct 24th, 2004, 4:49pm
Right first pick of your brains!
My O/D isn't kicking in properly, driving normally there is no O/D at all until you get upto 80-90 mph then it drops in but any easing of the accelerator causes the box to slip (if thats the right expression for it).
I've just had the MAF sensor off and cleaned that it has made a differance to changes but not to O/D.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers Vinny ???

hi there

have you done the usual things like check the level and condidtion of the fluid? get everything up to temp. with the engine running at all times, cycle through the gears three times. then check the level. what colour is it? reddish is good, brown/black is bad. how does it smell? if it smells burnt, again that's bad. also is the speedo working correctly? sometimes the vss plays up a bit, so the ecu doesn't know what speed the car is at.

hth

Vinny,
Check out the http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/odlight.htm page. This gives a range of possible causes of the OD light flashing.
I would recommend getting the DTCs read. The CCM (Comprehensive Component Monitor) should have recorded the reason for the flashing and this will show you where to look.  http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/ccmonitor.htm
