Title: LPG and Spark plugs Post by EinA on Nov 16th, 2004, 11:40pm Hi all, I had this reply from tech@sparkplugs.co.uk. to my question of Platinum vs Iridium spark plugs running LPG. LPG engines do tend to run a little hotter than petrol and yes, you should be able to use an Iridium part. Many LPG users prefer to use an Iridium part. The standard NGK part is PFR6B-11, Iridium equivalents are BKR6EIX-11 or Denso IK20. It's common to close the plug gap by 0.2mm to allow for the denser charge when using LPG. You may be able to use an Iridium part without regapping as lower voltage is required but this can only really be established through trial and error. Care is needed to avoid damaging the sine centre electrode/insulator when regapping Iridium plugs. Has anybody tried Iridium spark plugs yet? with Petrol or LPG. David |
