Post by johnv on Nov 18th, 2004, 6:19pm
Want to connect my Road Angels up permanantly so that they turn off with ignition.
I know that I can do this to radio. but perfer to take wiring into engine bay.
Can anyone please tell me where the most easy point is in the engine bay.
Thanks to any one that can help.

if you are going to go from the cabin to the engine bay,you have to go through under the coin box, there is a large rubber grommet you can pierce, however you have to remove the coin box section to see this clearly,so whilst this is removed, why dont you conect into a ignition feed there ?....
there's enough choice there,believe me .....

Thanks Craig, but excuse me for being thick, Where is the coin box.
Do you mean the fuse box? I know where they are.
The reason why I wanting to go to the engine bay is that I don't want to start messing with the dash, like taking that out etc.

Hi John,

The coin box is on the right of the steering wheel just below the trip computer buttons, held in by a metal clip i think.  But if you want a power source that is controlled by the ignition circuit you can connect into the wires  straight from the ignition barrell.  All you need to do is remove the lower part of the dash, two screws inside the coin box at the top either side of the OBD connection two torx screws on the side (with drivers door open and weather strip pulled aside you can se the screws) and one screw on the lower left side at knee height, then remove upper and lower steering column strouds.  The for the power dource you need to connect to the yellow wire which comes from, the back of the barrell, if you think there not enough room just follow the wires down and to the right hand side were it goes into a black connector, you can use a scotchlock on either side of this connector for you controlled power source, bear in mind though the wire changes colour to yellow and red on the other side of the connector, this cable is the accessory power cable on the ignition switch ( position 1 and 2 ) controll the radio etc.

just saying thankyou to the two people who gave me the advice.
I now know what a coin box is as well as how to route my connection.
Thanks very much.

Fuse no. 16 receives 12V on ignition. I used it for a solenoid that needed to be open with the ignition on and closed with the ignition off.
