Title: Headlamp Lens Removal Pictures Post by simonmd on Dec 10th, 2004, 12:49am Following on from Mike's post, I had a go at this today and have taken some pics to illustrate. http://images.snapfish.co.uk/3425868%3B23232%7Ffp7%3Enu%3D3249%3E969%3E754%3EWSNRCG%3D3232799477%3A27nu0mrj Once the plastic cover is removed you can see three of the four clips from above (circled in red). Release these gently with a wide flat screwdriver. The fourth clip can be seen from underneath, http://images.snapfish.co.uk/3425868%3B23232%7Ffp63%3Dot%3E233%3A%3D%3A5%3A%3D845%3DXROQDF%3E23236%3A8568937ot1lsi Then gently pull forward and the lens will come off... http://images.snapfish.co.uk/3425868%3B23232%7Ffp54%3Dot%3E233%3A%3D%3A5%3A%3D845%3DXROQDF%3E23236%3A8566486ot1lsi ...still attatched to the interior surround trim. http://images.snapfish.co.uk/3425868%3B23232%7Ffp54%3Dot%3E233%3A%3D%3A5%3A%3D845%3DXROQDF%3E23236%3A856669%3Bot1lsi The glass itself is glued/bonded to the plastic but the rubber trim surrounding it also comes off seperately. The interior silver trim is seperate from the outside plastic. Once the glass is removed, will be easy to change or paint should you want the 'facelift look'. |

Title: Re: Headlamp Lens Removal Pictures Post by JohnJ on Dec 11th, 2004, 9:23am Thats tempting ;D what paint would be needed, that question is directed to experianced painters here, because I wouldn't need a facelift look for 3 weeks and then a cracked paintjob look for the rest. JJ ;D |

Title: Re: Headlamp Lens Removal Pictures Post by Richard on Dec 11th, 2004, 10:07am John, you will need a can of car spray in either gloss or satin black, a small one will be enough, I used an acrylic, and some 800 grit or finerwet/dry paper for flatting the lense, also you will need some silicone or windscreen adhesive for the glass replacement, I used black silicone from a Upvc window supplier, This cost me about £2 for the silicone and £5 max for the spray. If anyone is going to do this mod i would advise you to do it when the warmer wheather comes along as without facilities for spraying you will get bloom on the paint and this will spoil the look,you need that finish perfect for a good look. |

||
Title: Re: Headlamp Lens Removal Pictures Post by craig on Feb 1st, 2005, 7:11pm baz dont know if you remember the post,but whilst travelling into yeovil,a 2 day old toyota 4x4 went right up my backside ,suprisingly,little damage was done,but as it was an insurance job,and obviously not my fault,i took advantage of it,what basically started it all was the body shop could not get hold of a pre-facelift off side light unit from anywhere,so they went ahead and face-lifted the whole rear end for me.hence i always wanted to do the front as well,and thats how it all started,all i do know is the total bill at the end was nearly £2,975.00 :o :o(boot lid,bumper,lights etc.etc.,you know the rest)........ HTH craig.. |

Title: Re: Headlamp Lens Removal Pictures Post by Paul B on Feb 1st, 2005, 7:59pm These pictures may have been a little time coming Craig, but they were worth waiting for mate. I had a discussion on Sunday with Barry (Waders) about dark colours being best on a Scorp, but I love yours. I think the term is "MINTER" :) |
||
Title: Re: Headlamp Lens Removal Pictures Post by Baz on Feb 1st, 2005, 9:11pm Craig...it all comes flooding back now!! I have one of the proper "Scorpio" badges for the facelift panel for the spare one I have in the loft care of George!! Funny how Ford waited till the last few months of production before they put the name on the things!! Paul, I have to agree with the dark colours thing. I liked the look of my red one more than the silver one I have now. Just this one had half the mileage on it! I particularly like the facelift cars and especially in black. I would give a lot for a low mileage black Cosworth |

Title: Re: Headlamp Lens Removal Pictures Post by craig on Feb 2nd, 2005, 6:54am typical... barry,the only thing the garage could not get from ford,was the black strip along the back with the word scorpio embossed on it,plain ones were freely availiable (didin't even know they did plain ones ???),anyway a mate who does vinyl signs/cutting etc.suggested that transfer on the back (i really wanted the original ford one),but having said that,matey done the transfer in the same style as the scorpio ultima badges on the rear doors and matched the colour to the car (cuirass),which now i personally prefer the look of.......................... :) :) and paul,thx for your comments,you know what YOU have to do now ;) |

Title: Re: Headlamp Lens Removal Pictures Post by Badboytunes on Feb 2nd, 2005, 8:42am Hi Craig..... I have to agree with Paul. Your car does look a MINTER... ;) If my memory serves me correct u have widow tints as well? Cheer Nick ;) |

Title: Re: Headlamp Lens Removal Pictures Post by Dave on Feb 2nd, 2005, 9:35am Craig, I think that has to be one of the nicest Scorpios I have ever seen ;D Just had to say that Cheers |
||
Title: Re: Headlamp Lens Removal Pictures Post by Baz on Feb 2nd, 2005, 9:44am Craig, The Scorpio writing on the rear light panel is actually a black embossed sticker. I forget the part number but I bought one on EBay about 15 months ago and as I have a spare new boxed panel, it is in there....just in case!! Yours looks the part though I have to say Baz |
||
Title: Re: Headlamp Lens Removal Pictures Post by craig on Feb 2nd, 2005, 2:45pm nick... yes the windows have been tinted mate,that really finished it off...... baz,i have learnt something else then,didi'nt know the scorpio on the back was just stuck on,i thought it was actually "embossed" on the plastic,still,never mind..... and finally thanks for all the comments guys,so now you know what to look out for in somerset,especially with a 5 foot nothing blonde lady driving ;D ;D ;D |
