 Not bad price

I wonder    are those grooves in the disc face just for show or  is there a reason   ?

Both :P

The grooves stop the pads from glazing, allow brake dust to clear from pad surface (better friction coefficient) and will look da*n good through me alloys ;)

Nice one waders - I have fitted Black Diamond Grooved and Drilled Discs and have their pads as well which seem to work well together but have not had them on long enough to see what the wear rate is like - the car definately stops when its told to though!

if your rear are not vented and u intend to put vented discs on , surely they wont fit as u will need a spacer kit to expand the width of the caliper. unless the 24v is vented all round then  i spose u could use those.....

I presume they are road pads! Didnt actually think to ask.

The guy was quite specific about what they would fit (not 24V), so i presume they are the same size as the standerd ones. Infact he stated no mods needed.

Will find out Wed/Thurs when they arrive.

No, I'm gonna phone him :-/

Spoke to him, your right, I get vented, grooved fronts and solid, grooved rears. Oh well, I'm happy enough still.

So, Brake Pads ???

The 24v and the estate versions have VENTED rear DISCS as standard ALL the other models have SOLID rear discs

It's a 24v  exec. estate-- not so many toys as the ultima, but just as quick!!

EBC used to be the very low end of the market but these days they are winning all sorts of awards .. so I would plug for those really .. and as you say ..Green for fast road use .. it will be interesting to hear what kind of improvement you get too .. as I personally think the brakes are superb in their standard form .. no doubt you'll keep us informed ... cheers  ...STN

hey, i hope all you speed merchants, realise, that no matter what fancy colour your pads are, or even if you got groves in the discs. at the end of the day it what the state of the little piece of road is like that under you little piece of rubber at any given time.

johnv,

I'm not realy a speed merchant (2.0 owner), although given the right conditions I like to put a fair pace down.

Brakes I see as a safety aspect, and something worth spending 100 quid on any improvement and I needed new front discs soon anyhow.

STN,

Yeah, I'm going with the EBC Greens, seen good reports for other cars with them fitted.

I'll be back.............................

hi to Waders,
Yes you are right, if you can improve your brakes, then why not,  that makes very good sence.
Better safe than sorry. But we must not forget that they are only as good as the road surface you are on. Well I might try them if and when I need steel discs renewing.
So you got a 2.0  and me. On a motorway or other straight road they go just as good as a 24V or 2.3.
My 2.0 and 24V cosworth afe both estates, both the same colour and on the open road I can't tell which is which.
But on hills if you are balked you miss the extra power.
Some people try and kid you on that the 2.0 does lots more miles to the gallon, than the others.
I find that because you use a bit more throttle on the 2.0 you get the same as say a 2.3 not any more.
Well that what I find anyway.

Agreed johnv, 3000miles, 23mpg is what my dash say's, not great, about the same as my old Mk3 2.0L. (although I do leave the CC in auto on the Scorp).

I've now gone for some Ferodo DS2000 compound pads.

Ferodo describe them for "fast road, not race use".

Double the price of standard ferodo's but cheeper than EBC Green.

Roll on the weekend ;D

Finally I've found the time to fit my new discs and pads ;D

A couple of hours and a sore thumb is all it took :-/

To soon for any thoughts of improvement yet, I'll give then a couple of hundred miles to bed in before I test there potential ;) But they already look good ::)

Did you get the sore thumb from putting those awkward b****ry disc anti-rattle clips back in ?

Like a test from The Krypton Factor!!!

Hi Mr Floppy,

No, I just did the stupid thing of putting all my weight behind a spanner with nowhere to go but down  :-[

As for the anti-rattle clips, mole grips mate, mole grips ;)

Stonking, absolutely stonking ;D

Totally progressive, a lot less pressure to the peddle for the same breaking force as the originals :o. Excellent initial "bite", but not grabby, And no "soot"  ::) all over my alloys.

(they took a while to bed in, 300 miles-ish though)

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
