Title: Norwich Union insured, donot read.
Post by johnv on Feb 18th, 2005, 5:05pm
When I put my car in for new rear bumper, I was given a lift home.
The person taking me home told me that Norwich Union was the worst insurance company they have to deal with. and I did not speak a word, he came out with it himself.
So I in the past have left posting to this effect.
Still its a good job there is no one who is insured with Norwich Union reading this, they might get upset.

Put 20 different people in a room and ask them individually about bad Insurance experiences and you'll most likely get 20 different companies. Almost everybody has an insurance horror story...
As I said before, I've been with NU for many many years now and never had cause to complain in the slightest.
Always fair prompt and courteous in my dealings.

Still each to their own... :D

I only have experience in shopping for car insurance.. i've shopped a lot for it.

A Norwich Union sales guy didn't understand why I didn't want to buy his premium. At nearly £3k. For a VW Polo.

Churchill are good but said they don't insure under 30 year olds for Cosworth Scorpios. The most ridiculous rule ever.

The AA broker website thing found a 'best quote' of £3000 for the same VW.

Adrian Flux are good. They are good. They're good.

Direct Line. English. Well-spoken. Understand everything. Very knowledgable. And darn cheap for us twenty-year-olds!

Luckily i've never had to make a claim with anyone. From what i've heard, though, any insurance company will treat a TPF&T policy customer like crap (am I allowed to say crap?)... It's surely true everyone will have a horror story though. If you like your car, you hate it when it's off getting repaired.. Simple as that. Mmm. Anyway.

good point well made vulcan george. I've been with various companies for my bikes and cars, norwich union at the mo cos they were £200 cheaper than anyone else, and would have my 23 year old girlfriend as a named driver. Unfortunately it's impossible to recommend any insurance company as everyone's circumstances are different. Not really sure what relevance your post had johnv? That's not meant as a dig, please don't read it as such,it seemed just a stir

Well it worked did it not. You tell someone not to read something and they can't resist.
Got the idea from my son's pen pal site. They are aways leaving posts like, Do not read if ( and them put what they want) immediately all that should not be reading do so. But all I way doing was saying what the very large Body repair garage told me about insurance companies. Which they found the most easy to deal with and those that they found to be always causing trouble, not wanting to pay out and arguing etc., etc.
All this business started with Norwich Union a little while ago by that Student chappie who was ensured with Norwich Union and they where not going to repair his car but want to scrap it and  pay him off with peanuts.
It was much worse for him because the person who damaged his car was also insured with Norwich Union.

Hi Dave £3000 for insurance on a Polo.
did you mean £300, well that's still to much for a Polo.
I mean it was only a few years ago, VW used to put like a  motor-bike engine in the back of their cars.
So is it because you had no driving experience, being young, only just past your driving test and got no NCB.
There is a little old lady lives down the road from me she is 86 years old and got a white VW Polo. I wonder how much she pays. Still I won't ask her.

God, Badboy tunes, trust you to mention house insurance with Norwich Union.
You started something now, are you trying to get me into trouble.
Well I'm with Saga. (as if people don't know all ready).
I pay £420 per year for combined House and contents. I live in a large semi with four bedrooms and two bathrooms.
Well three years ago my Building Society kept on and on to me about would I like a quote from them.
So in the end, to shut them up, i said they could run my details through their computer. I told them I would not be changing.
So they arrive at £770, and where very pleased with themselves at arriving at this figure.
You should see there faces when I told them how much I was playing with Saga.
I ask them who was the actual insurance company and yes you guess correct Norwich Union.

just for info wumpster, how mush are you paying for taxi insurance... i was paying 760 before my last claim, with 6 years ncd, but after that, which hasnt been settled yet, im now paying 1500 for a scorpio third party fire and theft.....

I have insured my Cossie and my partners orion fully comp with full legal protection and Recovery with NU. Kerry is a new driver with less than a years experience, her Orion is a 1.6 EFi16v which without being on my insurance she could not insure. I get all this for just over £700 a year.
They have responded quickly and properly to all my claims and I was fully satisfied at all times (over all the time I have dealt with them)

johnv ..please stop trolling about NU... ok you have issues with them but really, we don't all need to know them. Everyone makes their own decisions about what insurance they buy and don't need to be trolled into buying something else, we are all adults and can make our own mistakes (which is good as you don't learn if you don't make mistakes)

No offence mate but give it up.. you've made your point.

::)

NB: Troll= on most forums and newsgroups a Troll is someone who sits under the bridge and pops out regularly to prod you in the ribs about something thats bugs only them.

Hey, I have no issues with Norwich Union because I would not be so silly to insure with them, because there are better companies around who don't constantly over and over again, have their name keep coming up as bad people.
Like on radio and newspapers and motor magizines, all not happy with the way in which they conduct themselves.
Down my road there are four different milk men, yes four, "WHY" because people want choice. So this makes them give good service.
If only there where more Ford Main Dealers, then they would have to improve, because the best ones would get the business.
Its only by telling each other that we find out about who is good and who is bad.
Like if you where going to have double glazing or a new kitchen who do you choose, its only by telling each other, that you find out the good and the bad.
So if anyone wants to insure with Norwich Union, fine, that's your choice, but I would not go near such a company that receives so many compaints about them, its over and over again.
