Nice looking car - nice colour, nice spec, would hope there was a service or two (or three  ;D) between 66k and 108k though  ;)

Just one thing (nit picking here...) It has a P reg plate, but is listed as a 1998 car. As a P reg will be 1996 or 1997.

I'm sure once you go and see it Mr. Wittey will reveal the 98 is a "typing error" ;)
Or it could be a private plate on a 98 that someone has pranged and replaced the front end with the pre-facelift bits ;)

Heres a pic of it for the lazy ppl ;)

Had a look on the autotrader and he has forgotten to blank out the reg plate on one of the 4 little pics showing it to be a P plater. This means it ain't a 98 as he professes as P runs from August 96 to July 97.

For a trader this is a fundamental error, unless it's just a basic error or a typo.

That being said my first gut feeling was that it was a lot of cash for those many miles and personally I would be happier seeing it closer to the 2 grand mark.. but it does appear to have a full dealer service history which may explain it's price.

Look at the buyers guide and print it off when you go to look at it, try to keep an open mind or take an unbiased friend with you to help you keep a level head. You will tend to fall in love with the car and disregard certain things.. these cars have that effect  ;D

regards

George

well i could not sell my 1996 for £1700. but mine is a estate, which some listings will tell you command higher prices.
Mine is the same colour, but what's this about 17" wheels. They look like 12 spokes to me which are 16".
But there is only the one photo so not more easy to see.

It is actually Built 11/95 and is a 2.9 12v with ALL the bells and whistles, still an awful lot of money for the car . even in the condition as stated.

Still,   a 3 year warranty on offer ,  although I would certainly scan the small print with an Electron Microscope ( just in case! ).

Thanks to everyone who contributed so far :D. My thoughts so far are the price is excessive for the year/mileage notwithstanding the FSH - but buyer beware as per the buyers guide.  I think I will still do a recce  ::)tomorrow as it is not too far away.
There are already a few issues to raise and I will keep you all posted.

Rgds.

Beware of the warranty, a lot of them are thrid party deals and have a lot of clauses excluding certain things, and require that the car be serviced at a main dealer. and will only cover things that actually 'break' ' and do not include things that wear out..... As I stated before A LOT of MONEY for the year... along with a high mileage..... BUYER BEWARE  take it for a good long test drive before deciding and check evrything over well..

Good LUCK.

Hi all
I have an identical car, except that its a 24v with 106000 miles. Nice colour in bright sunshine. I am replacing it and it will be for sale shortly. Everything works..reg 24.1.97 altho at the moment it has a private plate on...it will be a "P". Well cared for but seeing the prices they bring on ebay makes me weep.....less than £800!!!!.
Taxed and Tested, has had:- new radiator, replaced g/box, new water pump, partial rewire due to the old problem of the wiring accross the V engine baking the wires, a/c works, memory seats, leather, still goes like a rocket if needs be. Email geofcoulson@netscape.net if interested.
Regards all
Geoff

This one is in Autotrader today. Sounds good eh?

1998 FORD Scorpio Ultima Auto,  R reg. 40000 miles, black, biege leather int, MoT & tax, cd changer, airbags, heated seats, alloys, climate/con, sunroof, auto pilot, alarm/immob, c/locking excellent condition. . . . . . (private)
£2,400

Don't know how to download the picture (sorry) but it is black and looks the business also. I am informed that it is a 2.3 (not shown in ad) and is one previous owner.

Any one tempted??

if that car had done only 40,000 miles and was unmarked inside and out. it would be worth twice that price or even more.
further more it would be sold by now.
Any way why has it got a D reg on a 1998 car.
People will pay high prices for low mileage cars. I lost out on a Scorpio that had only done 34,000. It was a part exchane with a big Ford Dealership in London. It was sold the day after it was put up for sale.

Johny
If you read the postings......on the bottom of page one, I said I had an identical car with 24v...etc. On the top of page two is the pic of my car (not the one in autotrader). The D plate is my own....."GEF" and carries forward to my next car.

o i see now. about the plate.
But that about insurance, you are a little devil. you got me going again, and its all you fault. So let hope you get the flack this time, for reminding me that there has not been a good insurance post for at least a day :-/.
Well here goes.
On BBC radio on Friday. a consumer programme.
This car pulled up at a crossing to let people cross as the lights had turned to red.
Then a van pulled up behind here.
No problem here, no running into each other or the like.
But the van had some materials on top of the roof and some of these shot forwards, off the roof of the car and damaged the car in front.,
(It did not say what these materials where).
So insurance details where exchanged and that was that.
But no. The insurance company refused to pay out.
Their reason, "that it was not a road traffic accident, like the matriels shooting off the roof.
They did not say who the insurance company was.
So I not saying anything, I will leave it to all you others to work it out.
