Looks like a nice one, for sure.

The price is encouraging, too - my Ghia goes up for sale in a week or two   ;D

With 31 bids, there will be loads of disappointed Scorp wannabees just clamouring to own my lovely car...

Flippin heck I hate to see how big the font would have got if the auction had gone on much longer.. ;D

Lovely car though...

It was all good and retty much true, except the bit about 'pleasantly surprise people with her shattering performance' Ok but then 'Economy' and 'reliability' come on, if there's one area where the 24v does NOT excel it's economy.

Dunno mate... every car I've had in the last 10 years has done about 20 to 24 mpg around town as does my 24v, pretty much of a muchness really. If ya want economy you have to go small diesel or really tiny petrol, ;) although saying that I had a Peugeot 306 1.9 TD which was economical if you drove it like a hearse but get a heavy foot and it was down in the 20's (28 maybe)
I think it's got a lot to do with how you drive rather than what you drive...

;D ;D

Blimey....I never got that when I sold my S reg last year!! Think I'll make a copy of his listing for when I sell this one!

Vulcan...How the heck do you get 24mpg round town out of a Cossie? I've had two of them now and both were lucky to get 19!

tell you what fellas,i have just sold my silver 24v on ebay and that one after replacing all the vac pipes acheived 20-22 around town and 28+on a run,but i did find that the "s" mode was more economical than the "e" mode  ???

I find if I drive it with a very light foot and try to be economical the mpg goes down to 18 or 19 but give it it's head and drive just "normal" I get much better fuel economy.
It seems to just hate being driven like a hearse. ;D

Yeah I use the S position quite a lot too when pulling off quickly, and also knock off the o/d a lot when overtaking. In fact everything you would think is wrong for fuel economy.

Dunno how it works but it does.... ???

Yeah... what George said. Leaving it in Economy, driving on the roads that I do, I get around 20 mpg, but on certain roads I get much better economy in Sport. I don't know if it has something to do with downchanging....? As in sport mode you're always in the right gear for swift acceleration, whereas in economy it always has to kick down.

I find in general, the faster I drive the better economy I get. Any pratting about under 30 gives me 17-18.

Additional.

Look at the front seats of that red one on ebay! They look brand new!

Hmph. My seats aren't like that. They look like their leather regularly vacations to tropical islands where they serve as hammocks to overweight whales.

my old 280e merc used to be economical in Standard mode too. The engine never felt like it was labouring.

hi bertie,i had my silver 24v on ebay at the same time, was doing very well too, looking around i saw only one of a similar calibre, any way i received a notification from ebay saying they had cancelled my listing due to an old selling rule i have used "all paypal payments are pluys 4%"i forgot to remove this when ebay demmed it illegal  :-/ they said another ebayer selling a similar car had reported this !! emailed several times with no reply, but not hard to work out what happened here ?always thought the auction regarding this car was a bit strange, you have to tread very carefully on ebay.....fortunately a lad came from essex and bought my car whilst this was happening so saved me cancelling the auction and losing my listing fees....hope that sheds a little light ???

Im the Essex Lad who bought Gaz's car and have to say that the mpg he quoted is spot on. It was well worth the 360 mile round trip.

Hi Baz

I got them when I had my s/s exhaust system fitted - they are Black Diamond Drilled and Grooved and they have a good warranty on them (sorry cant remember exactly what) but I had the same prob with my old ones - they were warped pretty bad.

The receipt just says Black Diamond discs and pads so I dont know any more - I just asked for good ones!
