What are the symptoms of an activated or faulty fuel cut off switch ? Does it just switch out the fuel pump ?

Not had it activated on the Scorpio, but a Sierra I had stopped dead after the car was jerked hard when towing another car!

After pushing the button down it was fine!

Whats the problem with yours then?

Hi Daven,
My current problem is ( hopefully ) the ignition module ( I will be fitting a second hand module as soon as it stops raining ) but it got me thinking about potential problems. I realised that, although I checked the cut off switch, I didn`t know what the symptoms would be, I assume that others might not either.
Just trying to "Be Prepared".

Hi Paul,

check to see if your car deadlocks. if it doesnt the switch maybe at fault. My fuel cut off button was half way between on and off, the car would start but the deadlocks wouldnt activate.

3 months of tracing cables, replacing modules and stripping the dash out i finally found it to be a faulty fuel cut off button.
