Title: Ever need a strong magnet?

Have you ever needed a really strong magnet for recovering dropped items or for holding stuff whilst welding/soldering etc?

Next time you are at a car boot sale, find someone selling an old hard drive that you can pick up for a pound or two - non-working is fine.

If you open it up you will find two of the strongest magnets that you can hope to find. The only warning is that they are very brittle and so if you let them snap together you will have 4 or more magnets - just smaller.

Very useful things to have around the garage/workshop.

They're great and I've been giving them away to mates for years but if you want a big strong one, pick up an old microwave from a tip somewhere and strip down the magnetron. If you can get it out of the structure, don't let it near any metal or you could be stuck for life.
