Title: Brake Pipes
Post by jackthom on Apr 25th, 2005, 9:12pm
I'd be very grateful if anyone could advise me on the spec and O/D of the brake pipes used on the Scorpio.
I need to replace a corroded section and although I have a flaring kit and lots of 3/16 copper pipe, I'm not really sure if this will  be OK for use with the Scorpio.

Hi Jackthom .. yes you can use that ok .. just check in your flaring tool that you have a metric flare clamp ..I presume you know what to look for but if you don't then check the BACK of the male or female flare clamp and if it's flat rather than flared too then it's a metric and will be fine ... hth  .... STN

ie: the back of the clamping block would be like this " _ " rather than like this " ^ " or this " v " .......

Thanks SaveTheNight, I ended up replacing  four sections of brake pipe on my 1995 2.0L 16v Scorpio. Now it should be OK for tomorrows MOT. :)
