Title: LPG conversion Post by km449 on Apr 27th, 2005, 4:54pm Hi. I run a 2.3 97P Ultima Auto Estate. Love it apart from it's thirst! Can anyone tell me what the installation costs are for an LPG conversion, what's involved and whether it's worth it! I don't do a great deal of distance driving, mainly town stuff at the mo, and getting around 20mpg Thanks, as always!! Keith |

Title: Re: LPG conversion Post by Thunderchild on Apr 28th, 2005, 11:18am Hi there, I have the Landi sequential injection system fitted to my Cosworth. Did the bulk of the conversion myself and then had it fully checked and certified by an approved installer. Total cost for me was £1400 but it would have been £2500 fitted. Fantastic system and with autogas available locally at 29.9p per liter it has got to be the way to go. No loss of power or performance and much cleaner running. My advice.... go for it!! Title: Re: LPG conversion Post by geraghtyg on Apr 28th, 2005, 12:02pm Possibly a very silly question but where does the spare wheel go if the gas tank is in the space for the spare wheel? |

Title: Re: LPG conversion Post by geraghtyg on Apr 28th, 2005, 1:49pm You totally agree with ME, Martin? ??? How much would it cost to do a 2.3? If I drove over from Ireland, would it be installed in a few hours so I could drive back home that same day? |

Title: Re: LPG conversion Post by martin_rowe on Apr 28th, 2005, 3:53pm from £1550.00 for a 4cyl 2.3, job takes 3 days, sorry Harry Potter dos'nt work here any more. Martin |

Title: Re: LPG conversion Post by derekne on Apr 29th, 2005, 5:57pm Some people have the spare wheel put under the car. Others have a torpeedo style tank in the back. So the spare wheel stays where it is. Some people (not many) have the tank underneith the car. This costs much more money as the tank has to be made of a stronger rust proof metal. Regards.... Derek |

Title: Re: LPG conversion Post by geraghtyg on Apr 29th, 2005, 7:04pm Thanks Martin and Derek. I do less than 15,000 miles per year so I guess it wouldn't be worth the hassle for me |

Title: Re: LPG conversion Post by bobtheyop on May 1st, 2005, 9:31am helo gang, worked out the other day the savings between lpg and petrol. over 5 years at an average of say 10,000 miles per year, with an average mpg of 25,which is high for a v6,and fuel prices for petrol at 82p per litre and gas at 30p per litre, morrisons at the moment, the difference between the two is about £4800 !!!!!!! if you bring the mpg down to 20 the difference is about £5800! i think i worked it out correctly,if not i'm sure i'll be corrected! so i think it is worth the cost of conversion if you can afford it, hope this helps, regards, bob. ??? |

Title: Re: LPG conversion Post by scorpio_man on May 1st, 2005, 11:53am hi there yep, spot on with the calculations! major savings to be made as lot as the gap between lpg and petrol remains ;) oh, did you know you can get it for diesels! ;) http://www.autogasscotland.com/diesel_news.html |
