Title: headlights Post by scorpio_man on May 7th, 2005, 9:01am hi there i'm sure this has been said before, but i can't find it. anyway, some people find the scorpio's headlights to be poor. the biggest problem with them, imo, is the lens. because of the design (polyellipsoid), (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/headlighttech.htm) any wear on the glass lens (scratches, old age etc) reduces the amount of light shining on the road (it goes off in all directions). proof of this, in my case, came when i had a new headlight fitted after an accident. the difference is huge! like one light on, one on sidelight (might happen with scorpio electrics ;D). so if you're having issues with the headlights, imo, change the lens (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/headglass.htm). £45.26+VAT+delivery from www.fordpartsuk.com ordered on thursday morning, delivered saturday morning! |

Title: Re: headlights Post by mr._floppy on May 8th, 2005, 4:33pm I bought 50% brighter Xenon bulbs on E-Bay and, quite frankly, I dont see any difference from the standard ones that came with the car ( 'cept a blue tinge to the light!) . I believe the 80-100 Watt bulbs should only be used off road , which is a bit vague legally speaking , are they illegal or not ? |

Title: Re: headlights Post by Eddie on May 11th, 2005, 2:51am 100w is illegal for road use. Bit of a con really, HID lights pump out more light but because its less than 100w per light unit it is legal. Allthough vehicles so fitted MUST be fitted with a auto levelling system. THe regs should really specify the light intensity, candle power (?) eddie |
