why are they prone to ballooning ???

hi oddjob,when i purchased my latest 24v it had a very slight leak on the rad,after looking on here it seemed they were prone to "ballooning" after removing mine you could see the top core was blown up and it had bent the top frame so much the fella who reconned it thought my head gasket must be blown...he said he tests them with really high pressure but never sees them do this under test  ??? not sure why...................................

good suggestion,i changed mine when the rad was replaced,just as a precaution....you never know with these bl...y cars...
