Title: Air Filter Post by Highlander on Aug 6th, 2005, 5:31pm Was changing the air filter on my 24v, I noticed where the breather pipe is connected to the air filter box there is (or is supposed to be) a small foam filter? behind a plastic clip on the inside of the box. Couldnt see any reference to it on the site (might be worth a mention if its not?) and mine was blocked solid with the remains of the filter and oily/gritty gunge. Dunno what, if any effect this would have been having but might be worth checking next time you have that filter out.. Highlander Heres mine cleaned out http://atlas.walagata.com/w/highlander250469/PICT0084.JPG http://atlas.walagata.com/w/highlander250469/PICT0088.JPG |

Title: Re: Air Filter Post by Scorpioen84 on Aug 6th, 2005, 6:30pm on my 2.0 the foam filter also was as good as gone... It was stiff from hardend oil/oilsteam, and did not filtrate anything... (i saw this before i changed airfilter and breatherpipfilter to coned K&N filters...) Edit.. http://www.torejorgen.com/scorpio/2%20KN%20Etter.jpg breather pipe filter is now the white coned filter.... Edit no2... The K&N mod made it through the MOT... And i think its just as easy to cutt foam from an old madrass ore something, just change the filter whith an homemade one... Atleas mine was far beond rescuing... |

Title: Re: Air Filter Post by Pegasus on Aug 6th, 2005, 7:08pm Hi Guys, likewise, mine was dripping in rotten oil. A knowledgeable member said it might make the MAF soot up quicker if left in a rotten state. I soaked mine in white spirit (though I suppose parrafin would also do) - took about 3 changes - in order to get it clean. Left it to dry overnight then refitted. This was about 3 months ago and haven't checked it since. HTH Pegasus |
