Title: 24v Radiator Fan Switch query
Post by DJWerkz on Sep 27th, 2005, 11:32am
Just been asked a question by a rad supplier whether the 24v Cosworth radiator has the fan switch built into the rad or whether the fans connect up to a switch on the block.

My car is located 20 miles away and the rad previously fitted was incorrect so I don't have an immediate reference point to hand.  So does anyone know whether the rad on my 1995 24v would have an external fan switch or one built into the rad?

I initially thought it was external but have a read of this:

either way it does not look like there is one built into the radiator.

Hope this helps  :)

Thanks for that Dave.  I did read that before posting and was certain that the fans are controlled by this ECT switch which is located externally to the rad, but just wanted to get some feedback from other members.
Will let you know what I eventually find for my own car ;)

Had recent problem with fans .fan contolled by engine temp sender.there are two sensors on the front of the engine on the thermostat housing. The sensor with one wire is for the temp guage on the dash the sensor below this has two wires. One wire is feed the other goes to the pcm module.two wires come from the module and go to the fan relay located front drivers side behind headlight..can't miss it it's long and green....
found fans switch on when thermostat housing is about 95 degrees.
