Title: Clutch Deactivator Switch?
Post by kskjon on Oct 25th, 2005, 10:30pm
I noticed this switch in my car, and when I searched around on this site, this is all I found:

Does anyone know what this switch does?

hi there

sounds like it's part of the cruise control system.

Hm, possibly, but my car doesn't have cruise control, but it does have that switch.. Atleast it has a switch on the clutch, which changes status when I press the pedal..

The switch you are refering to is in fact the Cruise Control Deactivator switch.

Okay, thanks, but why do my car have it? It's a manual without CC.. :-)

Edit:

So that would mean that it is a simple-"ish" job to add cruise control to my manual 2.0 16v?

Are you quite sure your car has NOT got Cruise control..... Someone might have changed the steering wheel for one without the buttons!

Stanger things have happened... The Cruise motor is situated behind the drivers( Offside) Headlight. With regards oyur other question .. NOt is not a simple job.

not sure about petrol models but my car is a diesel with cruise and the easiest way to check is that there there are two separate accelerator cables running to the injection pump (1 from the pedal and the other from the cruise), so whether or not it'll have the same 2 cables design but going to the throttle body on a petrol, just a thought.

Okay, thanks everyone!

I'll probably try to find out more tonight if I got the time.

Could be interesting to have a look at what options the car was fitted with when new.

In Norway, the trim level was called GLX, but it doesn't seem to exist in the UK.

By the lists found on this site, it seems to be a downgraded Ghia, with some of the Ghias extra options..

I just popped the bonnet and had a look. It doesn't have the extra accelerator cable, but it does have what seems to be an actuator directly connected to the primary accelerator cable, located directly under the MAF.

Will update with a photo tomorrow, when I can do it during the daylight.

that sounds like part of the traction control setup.

Okay, so it's safe to assume that my car doesn't have cruise control?

The switches on my pedals still puzzle me..
