Title: gps receiver location Post by hepburn on Dec 24th, 2005, 11:15pm Just thought i'd pass along a little tip. I was relocating my sat nav bluetooth receiver to the rear parcel shelf of my 94 frog eye saloon today and noticed it was still getting a signal when temporarily placed under the parcel shelf. To cut a long story short, it didn't make any difference to the signal whether it was on top of the shelf or underneath it (but clear of any metal). I was still getting circa 11 satellites! Needless to say it got mounted underneath to keep it from the prying eyes of any toe-rags who might be tempted to nick it... As far as installing it, I just tapped into the 12v feed to the boot light. Nice and simple :) For those interested, the gps receiver is a bt-77. available for around 50 quid on eBay. |

Title: Re: gps receiver location Post by hepburn on Dec 30th, 2005, 10:03pm Thats a nice integrated unit though a little underpowered for my liking. I prefer an all in one solution such as the xda with bluetooth gps and headset for the phone. I am curious what baz has installed on his speaker. is it an aerial or a gps receiver? Any chance of a pic? |

Title: Re: gps receiver location Post by Baz on Dec 31st, 2005, 11:19pm I have the antenna mounted on the speaker....I can't photograph it because you can't see it through the dark glass!! I have the Ford travelpilot sat nav radio fitted. Straight swap and a bit of wire work for the 7000 radio. Craig has the VNR 9000 with the colour screen which wires in even easier...... Baz |
