Title: new Brake upgrade...
Post by stafford on Dec 30th, 2005, 1:04pm
Hello to all and hope you had a sane xmas...I have had to change all four discs and pads ..shudder on the fronts at 50mph and the rears due to low pads scoring the discs. I have upgraded to these in the link with black diamond fast rd pads. Ill bed them in and keep you informed if they are any good. Im hoping they will be a decent upgrade. All in less than £200. Will take some pictures of the brakes being fitted but not sure how to up load to the site !!

keep us informed mate, i would like some myself, and i am sure they will help braking performance, but i'm sure i read somewhere here?, not to use  drilled and grooved disks, i do hope im wrong, but i am eager for a set too,

looking forward to your findings.

i read that to..i did email some other ppl of ebay who put them on st200 s and v6 cossies and so far seems ok.. they look and feel very heavy..the quality is hard to see if they ll be same as ford vented..the pads are serious proven quality though so no worries i shld hope with them. Its all about how will these disks perform.. i put a mid price set on my sierra cosworth years back and was so impressed with the stopping power once on..have u any feedback on how to put the photos on the site from the brake change??? time will tell they going on next week and will bed them in and let u no.

I hope your gonna  paint  your  calipers ?

With those  open wheels  and nice new  discs  those  rusty   calipers will  sure spoil  the look.

I'm told   by these  fast  hatchback   young  whippersnappers   that Hammertite  is " well  good "  . ???

Well I use drilled brakes with no problems & don't know anyone who has had problems.

Drilled brakes are good for hard breaking every now & then like you do on the road, undrilled brakes are better on the track thow as that is constant hard breaking.
All to do with friction blah blah blah . . . .
Any way here is mine ;D

ps how do u get the pictures in the thread?? cheers

I took it easy for what seemed like ages - I was advised to be nice to them for 200 miles but I am making up for it now, as for pics in threads I use photobucket and all you need to do is cut and paste the tag below the picture which has {IMG} either side of it  into the message box on this forum - you can always preview the post before posting if you are not sure of it working.

Good Luck

I wander if these corss-drilled disks when they warp up will make the scorpio shake like the stock discks do   ???

Title: Re: new Brake upgrade...
Post by dexix on Jan 8th, 2006, 8:26pm
Yes the brakes have been great and touch wood I have had no problems at all - best of all they are quiet, my work car sounds like I have a cat stuck in the wheel everytime I touch the brake.

As for the cat back system, I cant find the receipt but with two new cats fitted as well I think I paid around £600 - worth it just for the sound it makes  ;)
