Title: Heater not working - sorted!
Post by Ian on Dec 31st, 2005, 1:38am
I know there have been a few postings on this item already, but just to reassure owners who haven't tried it yet...

My 1998 24v Scorpio was having problems with the heater: i.e. almost no heat. I changed the thermostat (easy option compared to the heater matrix) but this had no effect. Resigned myself to the fact that I would probably need a new heater matrix as flushing the core had no effect.

Ordered and received my new heater core, ready for the big job ahead and realised that I had not back flushed the pipes to the heater. After a few seconds with the garden hose, a couple of pints of 'curry' came out then the water ran clear. Reconnect the pipes and found that the heater is now working!

So before you change the heater matrix (which is described on this forum and is a BIG job) flush out the rad AND the pipes.

I now have a scorchio Scorpio. Anyone want to buy a new heater matrix, boxed, unwanted Christmas present?

That's the kind of story I like,   hope you get a refund for the  matrix.
