Following the inclusion of the link below in another recent thread I would like to let you know my own findings before you go ahead and purchase:

My adapter arrived this morning and it is not entirely as I expected. My expectation was that the existing yellow Ford six-way connector would plug directly into the new adapter. This is not the case, what you have to do is cut one of the wires then re-join but including a new single blue wire that exits the new adapter block.

I not only followed the provided instructions to the letter but telephoned the retailer to clarify installation but this all made no difference as I got no sound at all.

The unit powers up correctly but there is no audio at all. As soon as you disconnect the new adapter/harness and re-connect the old one everything works fine.

I should point out that I no longer use a Ford head-unit in my car as I have a single DIN sized aftermarket stereo connected up via an adapter harness to the original Ford amp.

I told the retailer this and they said this should make no difference as they also sell the harness adapter so that you can connect up a regular head-unit to the Ford amp.

So now I have had to request a refund,...Oh, and I warn you, the returns process has already been rather tedious and I will be interested to see if they actually credit me as their returns small-print shows initial indications that they could be a company who do not like giving refunds!

Yes but they HAVE to give you a refund as part of your Statutory Rights as a consumer because the item is not as described. i.e. it doesnt work when they say it should.

Sorry you've had a rough time with the adaptor.

And it was me who inserted that link in the other thread. :-[

But, I have to say, it was simply something I had come across, not something I'd had any experience with.

Hey Lefty, I am not worried about the consumer rights thing, there's always Trading Standards and getting my credit card company to credit me if the company dosn't play ball (and companies do not play play even though we have consumer rights to protect us,...afterall, that's why Trading Standards exist).

No apology necessary Paul, I was just giving a heads up to other prospective buyers, no loss! It juts means I have to stretch my arm just another few inches to adjust the volume,...no hardship there hehehe

Update: Seller received the item back today and advised that I would be receiving a full credit for the item.
