Title: 12v engine loom removal question.
Post by Mickey_2.9 on Feb 22nd, 2006, 3:52pm
Started on removing the engine loom from my 12v today so that I can give it a good check, test the wires and replace the old and cracked plastic coverings.
I was getting on well, having worked back from the multiplug on the right hand inner wing. I have all the connectors disconnected up to the back of the engine. Now my question: The loom now disappears down the back of the engine, does it just go down to the auto box and left hand lambda sensor or is there more?
Also, I guess I just have to jack up the left hand front to get to the auto box connections, am I right and are they easy to get to.
Hope somone can help!
I have left it now because is so bl**dy cold outside!
Mike.

Don't know much about this Mike but the picture (right near the foot of the page) on this link:

would suggest that you are right about the lambda sensor being the last connection.

Thanks for that Dave, as you say it looks like it finishes at the lambdas from that view but on mine it does extend down towards the gear box, all the wiring you see on that drawing is now disconnected.
I will have a good look at the weekend but was woundering if anyone had any tips or info before. Cheers Mike.

Hi Mickey very  intersted in your project some thing I will do when its warmer.
I have a 2.9 12 valve .
I am trying to sort out pulling back at around 60mph on the moter way.
I have cleaned out all the vac pipes and looked at the  wirng in the engine,  which I  think chould be a sorce of problems particulery when I split t the 32 aprox,  pin conecter to the left of the engine the conections dont look to great.

I have clened them with contact cleaner which seemed to give a slight improvment   some one previosly had bent back the heat sheld leaving the conector exposed  to the   exahust heat.  good luck  John.

Hello Mickey
I'd be careful with the last bit!!
I've a 24V with g/box probs - knew when I bought it.
Got wrecked g/box off ebay to practice on 1st.
Unfortunately wiring destroyed but connections visible.
Has elect connections as below working from bell housing to prop shaft.
square block to LHS
curved block to LHS
looks like 3 connections on casing adj. prop shaft
Don't know about sensors
Hope this helps
david

The 24V & 12V looms are very different.

Gearbox part goes to the speed sensor, the two rear hego sensor's & gear selector position sensor.
