Just a quick yes or no question, is it possible to remove the Refrigerant Dual Pressure switch found on top of the 'dryer'?? without having to drain the aircon gas (i.e. i'll need a garage to do it).

mine needs to be replaced too and ive been told on previous posts that it will need to be re-gased. if it does'nt am sure someone on here will tell us

Because the one currently on my cossie has the plastic switch on top of it missing (meaning no aircon) and i have a spare switch with which to replace the broken one with.

Oh I see, well unfortunately you will have to get the refrigerant removed and then recharged, shouldn’t cost more than £50 though ( maybe less ) and that should include fitting the replacement part. Make sure you fit a new o ring ( I think it’s a O ring )and that some replacement oil is fitted, also I have read on here that the charge is 1 kg instead of .750Kg as it says on the sticker. Mike.

Thanks Mike, been reading up about getting it recharged and it seems like a company called Aircon Direct (over the water from Essex in Kent) has a good review i read on the main site. Will have to get the new sticker as its an early car with the old one.

I'll be surprised, my local Lucas outfit charged £180 for a o-ring seal replacement ( it were leaking at a pipe joint ) and a full re-gas.

Shareholder value mr._floppy or profit for Lucas, I paid I think £45 at the Derby meet and he drained replaced the o ring and then refilled with refrigerant for that.

Yeh, last summer the going rate for a recharge aroud here was about £45. I was keeping an eye on prices because I have all the equipment to do the work. If any one needs a recharge in the Oxford/ Bucks area I am sure I could assist sometime. Don't forget though that it not always as simple as a recharge, if theres little or no refrigerant in the system you most likely have a leak.

hi changed my dual pressure switch without de gassing when you unscrew the switch there is a tyre valve type valve in the hole to stop the gas leaking out chris d
