Title: Replacement Sunroof
Post by Pam and John on May 8th, 2006, 12:21am
Sure I read on here that the sunroof is the same as some other models, but can't find it now. can anyone point me in the right direction, or let me know which ones are direct replacements. Assume one will be granadas, but are there any others.

Cheers

John

Hope u r not buying one because of water ingress the seal is not to stop water.

There r 4 drain holes 2 front 2 back they may be blocked if you are getting water in.

Water ingress not a problem, it's the whine, mostly from driver's side, but occassionaly from passenger side that's driving me nuts - only happens when Pam is in the car  ::) ::).
Seriously, the seal has started to split where the join is and it stops the roof opening, not a prob for me as prefer A/C, but swmbo wants it sorting. Last time I checked, seal was £65 from Fords, so if I can a replacement with a good seal, will be well pleased  ;D

John, I have the same problem with the seal, lots of wind noise.
I have a roof to fit in but just haven't got round to doing it. One thing I am not sure on is what to seal it in with. On the Granada I removed it from it looked like Ford had used some sort of tape? Anyone know where I could get this from or what else to use other than the old silicon bath sealer!

My Scorpio is also getting a whistling wind noise when driving.  However I don't think it is the sunroof seal but rather the front door seal - stands to reason being as the hinge pins have worn and the door 'drops' when you open it.  Hopefully new pins will make the door sit level and seal properley.

The pins on the doors are NOT replaceable . you have to replace the whole hinge!

There is a procedure for doing it but I am ATM not able to find it as soon as I do I will post again!
