Title: What is this and what does it do??? Post by km449 on May 28th, 2006, 11:32am Close to the engine dipstick is a horizontal saucer shaped unit, with a thin rubber pipe running from it. Pardon my ignorance but what is this and what does it do? What would be the effect of the rubber pipe having split? Thanks Keith |

Post by Octavian_P on May 28th, 2006, 12:03pm Is this your saucer ? http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/images/egr24v.gif This is the EGR system, here is what it does http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/egr.htm On my scorp that pipe did also broke, never felt a difference with a new copper one fitted, so i took it off and put a plug on the valve that controls the vacuum. |

Title: Re: What is this and what does it do??? Post by km449 on May 28th, 2006, 3:09pm Thanks for that. Rubber pipe 7 had split, no idea when. I had already posted a separate thread as I'd noticed that the car was slowly losing power on motorway inclines last week during a 600 mile round trip, although it was otherwise performing sweetly. Could this be the reason? Thanks Keith |
