Title: Re: 2.3 inlet manifold Post by deefer on May 28th, 2006, 1:55pm the crack / hole is on the opposite side to the 2 sensors. I don't have the manifold off yet but I would guess about a 2 mm diameter hole + the possibilty of a crack How long ago did you fix yours ? holding ok ? |

Title: Re: 2.3 inlet manifold Post by scorpio_man on May 28th, 2006, 2:09pm hi there late last year. get the manifold off and give quick steel a go. much better than chemical metal. just take your time and make sure it's 'gone off' before trying it. this is the stuff..... http://www.vintagetractorspares.co.uk/Accessories/Pages/new_page_1.htm |

Title: Re: 2.3 inlet manifold Post by deefer on May 28th, 2006, 6:58pm took the manifold of, the hole is alot bigger than expected. At the moment I think the only way would be to insert a piece of plastic pipe that is a tight fit and drill out the holes for the sensors etc, sealing it in well, and then to be doubly sure some quik steel on the outside. I also noticed the wiring loom for the injectors etc was in really bad condition, alot of the wires were bare where the protective coating had cooked and become brittle. Alot of soldering to do tomorrow changing the wires as well...... |

Thanks, will see how it goes tomorrow, I am in Estonia so postage will probably be around £30 - 40. The main dealer here also does not have them in stock, 10 day delivery time if I want a new one :( |

Title: Re: 2.3 inlet manifold Post by jonnycab on May 29th, 2006, 12:06am I also used quick steel a couple of months back, and although it is great stuff there is still a very very very small seepage (not enough to worry about). Obviously the long term solution is to buy a new manifold. There's a guy selling a second hand manifold on Ebay for the extortionate price of £95 + £13.75 p+p. But then again......if your desparate? |
