Hey everyone,

I'm (or rather my top mate is) about to start repairing my screwed engine wiring loom on the 24v Ultima. Does anyone know if there's a special tool to get the connector pins out of the multiblock connectors? Things like the injector plugs, coil pack, TPS etc, all have cracked insulation going right into the plugs, and I need to replace the cable right up to the terminals.

Or is it just faffing with small screwdrivers and long nose pliers?

the plugs to the injectors and such like are sealed. the usual method is to cut out bad wiring solder in new section and heat shrink right up to the plug.

Small 'watchmakers' screwdrivers and long nose pliers I'm afraid. I did the two pin connectors on my cooling fans and they're a b****. General procedure though is to remove the red plastic insert on the plug, then you'll be able to get to the little plastic lugs which secure each pin. Obviously you'll need to mark what pin went where otherwise it'll never run again!

FWIW, the plugs I did had little yellow rubber 'boots' over each wire, which pushed into the back of the connector. This gave the impression they were sealed into the plug, but they come out with the wire and pin and can be transfered onto new wiring.

Hi Al .. any snap on van will have the tool you seek ..its just an octagon shaped boss with several twin spring steel fingers for different wiring terminals ... fairly cheap too .. regards ... STN
