Title: heated seats - switches - illumination
Post by the_machine on Jun 20th, 2006, 12:16am
the heated seat switches are supposed to illuminate !!
they have those 12v filament lamps in. running all time ignition on ! so burning out pretty quick.
i have fitted high power green LEDS and they look much better, nice and bright and green in the dark.

its a bit fidlly taking the switch apart, removing the old lamp , then soldering in a 560r 1/4w resistor and the LED. you must connect the cathode of the LED to the positive feed on the switch. (cathode is usually marked by a flat side of the led, or a longer leg) anyway it all fits inside, and will outlive the car probably (at 60,000 hours)

I tryed to do mine and mangled 2 spare's trying to sus them out. Once they were back together, would stick or not function properly so I gave up and stuck with the ones in the car with standard colour. They are a pain in the a++se.
