Title: To all manual scorpio drivers... Post by mazzy_j on Jun 21st, 2006, 12:57pm ... I was just wondering where is the biting point of your clutch is as mine bites only on the last inch and a half of travel and i'm not sure if this is the norm for hydraulic clutches or whether it needs replacing :-/ Matt |

Title: Re: To all manual scorpio drivers... Post by sector-9 on Jun 21st, 2006, 10:19pm If you mean it bites about an inch or so from fully released position then I'd not worry - if it bites right near the floor that would indicate air in the hydraulic system or possible low fluid. There may be some means of adjusting it at the pedal but without looking I don't know... Darren |

Title: Re: To all manual scorpio drivers... Post by Octavian_P on Jun 21st, 2006, 10:37pm My clutch works from half to bottom. When i bought the car it had the adjusting screw "out of it's place" and it was a hell to change gears..... |

Title: Re: To all manual scorpio drivers... Post by mazzy_j on Jun 22nd, 2006, 1:15pm Judging from what people have said and how it drives i think the clutch is nearing the end of its life :'( Just been down to Ford's to see how much a clutch would be, the damage was £91 plus i get back about £9 if i bring the old one back. Now its a 4-5 days wait til i pick it up and then lots of fun fitting it... Matt p.s. thought i'd ask about a new clutch release bearing whilst i was there, 180 odd quid!! maybe not then ;) |

You might want to try a non-FMD source - last time I bought a clutch for a Sierra (admittedly it was the N type gearbox, not the MT-75) a remanufactured one cost around £30-£40 and that included pressure plate and release bearing. Was several years ago though... Darren |

Title: Re: To all manual scorpio drivers... Post by mazzy_j on Jun 23rd, 2006, 8:14am That price did include the pressure plate, i got the clutch on discount and it would have been around the £140 amount without! If i didn't work at Fords then i would go for non-ford stuff, but seeing as it costs me the about same i might as well go for stuff i know was definately meant for the car :) Thanks everyone for checking, Matt |
