Title: Is the 8v Engine any good?
Post by PepperCossi on Jun 28th, 2006, 8:21pm
Hi everyone,im still on the look out for a scorpio estate. Found one in nice condition but i dont know a thing about the 2.0 8v engine! Are they worth avoiding or no worse than any other scorpio engine? Thanks for any help.

a bit underpowered for such a big car. i'd stick out for a 16v 2.0 or 2.3.

I would recommend a 16v, but you could take it for a test drive and see for yourself. If possible, get some weight in and/or atleast find some steep hills (since that is where it should show the real difference)

Hmmm well I reckon the 8v is way under powered, 16V is still struggling & the 2.3 is just about right 8)

If you live life just a bit faster then there is the cossie & if that bores you bolt a couple of turbo's to it ;D

Prone to head gasket failure.

I would back that up. My 2.3 blew its HG and my mechanic has another 2 that have gone in the last few weeks as well. The 2.3 is a lovely engine but is prone to failure and does drink a bit as well.
