Title: Fuel filter location
Post by Kjetil S on Jul 9th, 2006, 6:38pm
Hi all.

Just wondering where, exactly, is the fuel filter located (16v)?

I seem to recall that it was located on a mounting bracket next to the right rear wheel on my 2.4 granny, but I'm not sure.

Knowing where it is will probably make the whole operation a bit quicker to complete  ;D

Hi there, the fuel filter it's kind-of-next-to the fuel tank, and i think it's like on the granny, but not sure if it's left or right, i never did any difference between right or left  ;D

Passenger side of a Right hand Drive - behind rear wheel!

Changed it now!

Drivers side on my LHD, so Daven, you were right  :)
Actually located directly above the rear axle.

Oh, btw. For some reason, the fuel lines seems to align a little better if the mounting bracket is mounted the correct way (which I discovered the hard way  ;)) For anyone wondering, the metal piece aligning the fuel filter to the bracket should be on the back side of the filter, not in the front  ;D

Will take it for a test drive now, and see if it made any difference.

update:

It does seem to pull stronger, especially in the hills, so then it wasn't a complete waste of 30 minutes  ;D

Don't know when it was last changed, but looking at the coat of dirt on the old filter, and knowing how well the previous owner had taken care of her, it could have been there a while.

It   sure   is  a    awkward   place  to  put   a   in-line   fuel    filter.

but,   after   a   while   one gets  used  to  the Scorpio's  little

                      foilbles.  :-/

Neeeahh, it's not so bad, you get used to it, it's like playing a lotto ticket, ....."does it have watter, does it not.....does it have rust, does it not"...... :P

PS: there are also a few gas stations that have good quality fuels (that my scorpio likes to get), but there are other like OVM insetad of OMV, or LOL insetad of MOL etc. etc..... now thoes are the real "jerks".
