Title: Quik Steel
Post by jonnycab on Aug 20th, 2006, 12:21am
Quik steel is good stuff......but check this out.

 http://www.devcon.com/

I used devcon steel putty to re- build the thermostat housing on my Mk1 Granny Ally head about eight years ago, & it still holds strong now.
It comes in two tubs, the larger one being the black putty, & the smaller one being a foul smelling, cream coloured epoxy resin with the consistency of mayonnaise.
This stuff, once dried, can't be sandpapered (too hard). It has to be filed.

I'm not sure whether Devcon still do the same product (steel putty), but there must be an alternative on their site. :)

Yeah,   we   use  similar  stuff   in   the   printing   industry .

An  inexpensive   way  to   repair    slight  indents  in  very  expensive   lithographic   printing   cylinders.
