Title: Headlamp glass wet on the inside
Post by roger_howes on Oct 18th, 2006, 3:35pm
Hello all,

Mr driver's side headlamp condenses up on the inside of the glass in damp weather.  The inside of the lamp, however, looks clean and in good order.

Is it the seal between glass and headlamp body?  If so, can it be resealed.

Whatever the case, some advice on removing and refitting the headlamp would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Roger,

Don't worry about it. The headlamp is quite well sealed and any ambient moisture inside will condense in this kind of weather. Unless it's swimming in water then no need to do anything about it, if it really bothers you then you can get the lens off with a flat bladed screwdriver (3 clips in almost impossible places) or poke in one of those silica gel sachets you find packed with new shoes/jackets etc. to soak up the moisture, just keep it away from the headlamp bulb ;)

Regards, Bruce.

Remember to have someone hold the lens when you undo the last clip. I learned that the hard way  ;)

Do you have the bulb cover fitted? one of my lights did this after i stripped them to do the facelift mod i covered the glass with a thin tea towel & put the lights on for half hour or so the heat from the lamp will dry it out ,i had to do it a couple of times
