hey all

im planning on installing a boot popper button inside the car, like on mondeos, focus' etc...

ive found out that it's possible to open the boot while the engine is running, simply by removing all the boot trim, starting the car then crawling through the back seats and moving the release arm manualy

what i need to know is, if i tap into the wireing on the solenoid, with a 12v supply from the switch, will the solenoid fire, or does the cars security mean that it's not possible (locks when engine is running)?

I was thinking of doing the same. Will have a look at my scrap motor and see what's what.

You may need to put a diode in line so as not to back feed any thing back up the line, switch wouldnt want to be pressed on the motorway though :o

Matt, I was thinking along similar lines. A direct feed to the solenoid should work, it's the switch that gets isolated with it running. I was thinking of putting a push switch out of sight in the coin box.

Downforce would keep it shut ;)

I should know, was picking up 5metre joists in mine last year, every time I got above 20mph the bleedin' boot was thumping on the joists ;)

Not neccasarily so...

it may get sucked open by the air vortex behind the car, then get bashed back down when it get's fully open and then godd knows...

Anyone care to try..

i plan to take the switch gear out of a ford mondeo, focus or other ford with it fitted, the diode sounde like a good idea tho, dont wanna mess up the pats/security system on the scorp, i cant handle another electrical problem hehe
