It mentions tying to locate the old amp in order to connect the new speaker cables to...

Whilst testing yesterday I found a multiplug ( white ) on the left hand side of the steering column area that comes from the amp. This is easier to work with once the facia is out, and uses a standard for 8pin oval multiplug so you can make up a nice loom to go to your new head unit..
